Things to do in San Cristóbal de las Casas? Parque Ecoturístico Rancho Nuevo is a forest just outside the city where you can explore caves, hike among the pine trees, ride a horse and spend a family day outdoors. It is a great open-air plan that combines nature, caves and local food in one place.

What to do

  • Getting there (taxi): from downtown San Cristóbal, take a taxi to Rancho Nuevo. Around $160 to $200 MXN per trip (up to 4 people).
  • Getting there (combi van): you can also take a shared van. It leaves from this point — ask the locals for the vans going to Rancho Nuevo. It costs $45 to $60 MXN per person and drops you about 100 meters from the main entrance.
  • Coming back: take a similar van or one of the taxis available inside the area.
  • By car: you can also drive there.
