Things to do in Ocosingo: Visit the Toniná Archaeological Zone, once one of the most powerful Maya city-states of the Classic period. Its Great Acropolis, built on a hillside, rises about 80 meters (260 feet): one of the tallest structures in Mesoamerica.

Getting there
- By car: you can drive directly to the archaeological site.
- By public transport (combi van): head to Periférico, Tercera Avenida Sur Ote s/n, Candelaria, 29950 Ocosingo, Chiapas (the combi terminal serving Toniná) and ask for the vans going to the ruins. The fare is about $35 to $45 MXN. To return, catch the combi at the same spot where it dropped you off.

- Horseback riding is sometimes available (around $50 to $150 MXN).
